Ceremony held for Soft Launch of Port Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) System to Drive Port Modernisation in Cambodia

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport from the Kingdom of Cambodia (hereinafter referred to as“MPWT”), held a ceremony for the soft launch of the Port EDI system in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 17 Aug.2022 with Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister; Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia in attendance.

EXEO Group, Inc. (“EXEO”) led by President & CEO Tetsuya Funabashi, the main Supplier, has been driving the development of the Port EDI System since Nov 2020 and successfully completed the project to ensure full readiness of the system during the soft launch and implementation.

The Project for Port EDI System (“Port-EDI”) was kickstarted based on the Grant Agreement signed between the Royal Government of Cambodia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (“JICA”), and has been developed by EXEO in collaboration with GUUD International Pte Ltd (“GUUD”). GUUD is one of a key overseas subsidiaries of EXEO group, which focuses on the development of trade facilitation platforms for governments, businesses and industries, has previously worked closely with the Cambodian government departments to develop the Cambodian National Single Window(“CNSW”), which went live in July 2019.

Port-EDI digitalises the traditional manual paper-based processes used in clearing incoming and outgoing vessel declarations, when each ship arrives / departs at/ from the major ports like Sihanoukville/ Phnom Penh, delivers the following three (3) key benefits for MPWT, the Port Authorities, Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine departments along with the Shipping Line/ Agents.

especially in the formal end-to-end ship clearance procedure like Ship Registration, Entry Permits, Arrival Declarations, and Departure Declarations in compliance with the international maritime standards, FAL.

The total number of attendees including the Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia and the Director General of JICA in Cambodia totaled around 200 people.

With the port modernization activities successfully kickstarted in Cambodia, EXEO is now ready to propose other trade digital solutions making use of IoT technology in partnership with GUUD's sister company - Ascent Solutions Pte Ltd.
