JICT and EXEO Group Decide on Additional Support for the Indoor Communications Infrastructure Sharing Business in Indonesia

May 30, 2023

EXEO Group, Inc. (head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Tetsuya Funabashi, President) and the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services Inc. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Amane Oshima, President; hereafter JICT) announced that they will offer additional support through SPC for PT Dhost Telekomunikasi Nusantara (hereafter dhost), a local EXEO Group subsidiary developing the indoor communications infrastructure sharing business* in Indonesia. JICT has received in May 30 approval from the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications to offer additional support of up to 2.1 billion yen to dhost through SPC.

dhost is developing the indoor communications infrastructure sharing business in Indonesia, utilizing the EXEO Group's knowledge of assembly, maintenance, and operations of advanced communications infrastructure, and they have received high evaluations from local communications carriers. In Indonesia, where the population continues to grow, data traffic has dramatically increased. At the same time, the communications infrastructure in offices, shopping malls, and other indoor facilities is inadequate, and there is a need to build and maintain a better communications environment. While communication carriers focus management resources on 5G and other growth areas, they are moving forward with controlling investments in indoor communications equipment and sharing this equipment with other carriers with the goal of efficiently expanding service areas. The indoor communications infrastructure sharing business continues to expand in Indonesia and around the world. JICT decided to offer support of up to approximately 2.2 billion yen through SPC in January 2021 to support the expansion of dhost's business, and since this decision was made, they have provided accompanying support for dhost's business operations, including advice on organizational structure and financing as well as indirect support utilizing governmental channels.

Through this additional financing, JICT will provide funds for growth towards further business expansion for dhost, as well as supporting dhost in becoming the top provider of indoor communications infrastructure sharing in Indonesia. dhost expects to expand their business model to other countries in southeast Asia to become a leading company in Asia. On top of this, contributions to growth in the Japanese economy can also be expected by using the 4G communications equipment that will be overhauled as a foundation, offering the possibility of developing Japan's open and secure 5G technology in Indonesia in the future. JICT is committed to continuing to provide support through various projects to Japanese companies in their overseas business development in the areas of telecommunication, broadcasting and postal services.
