Using our knowledge of solar power
generation to expand into offshore wind power generation

Over the past ten years or so, many solar power generation plants have been built in the renewable energy market. We have also been engaged in building environmentally friendly power plants and have built solar power plants, large and small, whose capacity totals 500MW. We believe that the introduction of renewable energy, including offshore wind power generation, which can generate more power, will accelerate.
Among future initiatives, I would like to first touch on participation in the construction of offshore wind power plants, which the Japanese government is pursuing as the key to promoting renewable energy. We are gearing up to launch large-scale projects, using all the expertise we have developed in the construction of solar power plants and infrastructure development. We anticipate the decentralization of power sources, or increasing microgenerators for in-house power consumption. We will respond to this trend, too.

The key is cooperation with local communities.

A Carbon-neutral society, or a carbon-free society, will require increasing renewable energy capacity. Given that, we will make steady progress in acquiring expertise in the construction of offshore wind power plants to become a player in the field. We aspire to be a company that develops infrastructure related to the building of smart grids and to improve regional resilience, using expertise in IT and storage battery installation.
Cooperation with communities is indispensable both in the construction of offshore wind power plants and the building of smart grids. I hope we will undertake smart city initiatives, or work to create a society in which we will work with communities to achieve sustainability.

Introducing woody biomass boilers in anticipation of an energy shift

The Environmental Projects Department engages in technology solutions to address environmental issues, including waste disposal, water treatment, and biomass energy. Looking at the present market environment, attention to and expectations for the market are increasing as environmental issues, including global climate change, are becoming more serious. In April 2021, Prime Minister Suga announced a 2030 goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46% from 2013 levels. The prime minister said that Japan will continue striving to achieve a reduction rate of as high as 50%.
Achieving the greenhouse gas emission reduction target requires increasing renewable energy use. In this environment, more biomass energy, which can supply power consistently and reliably, is introduced. We have been promoting the introduction of woody biomass boilers for 15 years. We support an energy shift to biomass energy at customers that use fossil fuels from the planning, design, and construction of facilities to after-sales service.

Providing solutions from a medium- to long-term perspective

I believe that it is important to build a record of achievement step by step toward a Carbon-neutral society. We are involved from the planning stage at each customer and provide solutions at each stage and after-sales service. The project period is 20 years or 30 years or longer. I aim to build win-win relationships: at each stage, we provide facilities that customers can use safely, and as a result, customers are fully satisfied, and our reliability and brand power increase.
